Q: I’m interested in buying the lot you have for sale, what should I do?
Click on the BUY tab to find more details about the lot and then reach out to us with questions and/or an offer. Best to first send us an email to share your phone number so we know who you are. “Potential Spam” is a very frequent caller whom we ignore.
We can be reached at djnral2.0@dovetaillodge.com
Q: When is this house going to be gone?
A: Our Dovetail Lodge will become a mere memory by the end of this month, October 2022. With the caveat that contractors’ schedules are subject to change, we anticipate the demolition crew to be working this Thursday and Friday, October 27-28. Prepare for it to be noisy, dusty and a bit of a traffic nuisance.
THANK YOU for your continued patience as we near the end of this latest chapter of Dovetail Lodge.
Q: We feel so badly for you. Is there anything we can do to help?
A: Thank you everyone for your kind hearted condolences — we didn’t realize there were so many people cheering us on from a distance. MAYBE you can help? We just don’t know what that looks like yet. If you haven’t yet shared your contact info, please take a moment to do so. It will be the surest way for us to stay in touch.
Q: Do you know what caused the fire? Do you know what you are going to do with this house?
A: Short Form: no and no.
A: Long form: a more considered response is found on the blog entry A Phoenix Funeral for Dovetail Lodge.
Q: What exactly are your intentions w this house?
A: Yeah, we actually get this question quite a lot. Neither a renovation nor a restoration, our intentions are to bring it back to its glory with respect for what it was originally — while also reimagining it for the 21st century. It’s a massive undertaking we’ve willingly and knowingly signed up for...on the dotted line even.
Q: Who made your DIY Daunting House video?
A: So very glad you asked. We are thrilled to shout out ALEXIS LOPEZ, the very talented videographer who created our horror movie spoof.
Q: She’s such a pretty dog, what’s her name?
A: She is absolutely big, blonde and beautiful. Her name is SHOUT. (It made more sense when we had a dog named Twister who’s nickname was Twist;) Shout’s favorite question is: “IS IT TIME TO GET IN THE CAR YET?”
Postscript: We lost SHOUT in March. She was the softest sweetest dog ever and remains our mascot. Her enthusiasm for this project was often our motivation whenever we’d get overwhelmed.
Q: Why did you buy this place?
A: Great Question. One we sometimes ask ourselves. PERHAPS “WE GOT SOME ‘SPLAININ TO DO…”
Q: Where are you located?
A: Dovetail Lodge is a hidden gem found in the “HOME OF THE BUCKEYES!”
Q: We hear tell that our abode is sort of famous in the online chat rooms for people who follow old houses. So our questions are: Who are you? Where are you? What would you like to know about? Also if you have any tidbits to share we are all ears.
Look who we found!
A: In response to our own question, we’ve connected with a group of people who knew about our place before we did! Meet Kelly, the originator of a very cool website called OLD HOUSE DREAMS. She and her readers are avid fans of architectural treasures like ours. It’s a great place to scroll through unique older homes that are on the market — just in case you get inspired to join this fun!?!
We are certain there is a larger community of DIYers of beautiful old houses in need of serious TLC. We would be thrilled to meet you…
FYI about your FAQ’s:
It will take a bit of time for us to get back with you. It’s a bit tricky to talk about a house while we are busy working on it. Your compassionate patience is greatly appreciated.
